Conditions of Play:
-
Format: Four-bowl singles. First to 15 shots. 75 minutes for play-ins and semifinals. No time limit on finals. No fixed number of ends for any match.
-
TRIAL ENDS: Two-up, two-back trial ends are included in match time for all games. One or both players may forego the trial ends if desired. A bell will sound the start of the match, which begins with trial ends; no separate bell will delineate trial ends from the rest of the match.
-
**NEW** Conclusion of the match (time): after conclusion of match time, a bell will ring. When the bell rings, any end already in progress must be completed and will constitute the final end of the game. If an end has just concluded and any player has picked up the jack before the bell rings, the next end is considered started (as if they had cast the jack) and that final end must be played.
-
KNOCKOUT RULES: All rounds on August 29 are single-knockout: once a player loses, they do not play any additional games (i.e., there is no third-place game). Knockout games cannot end in a tie. Once the bell rings, players conclude the end in progress (note that an end is considered "in progress" once any player has picked up the jack). If tied after the last end, an extra end will be played. A new coin toss will be required to determine control of the mat for the extra end.
-
HEAD VISITS: Players can visit the head once per end, after delivery of their third bowl. Under exceptional circumstances, players may request permission from the marker to visit the head after their second bowl. This head visit is in addition to the permitted visit after the third bowl.
-
JACK OUT OF BOUNDS: Re-spot the jack on the 2-metre ‘T’.

-
SCORE CARDS: At the completion of each game, players are to sign both score cards and the winning player will deliver both signed cards to the scorekeeper. The marker does not keep the official scorecard, players do.
-
LATE ARRIVAL: If a player is more than 10 minutes late (after the starting bell) they will forfeit the match.
-
SPARES: are not permitted.
-
UMPIRE: No umpire will be available.  An Umpire kit is available for all to use if needed. If undecided, asked someone in an adjacent rink to help decide. His/her decision is final.

-
FOOTWEAR & DRESS CODE: Players should wear collared shirts and footwear that will not damage the green.

-
CELL PHONES: As a courtesy please turn off cell phones or put on vibrate mode. Do not hold telephone conversations during the game.

-
PRIZES:  Will be paid at Awards Day in September. Approx 10% of entry fees will be retained to cover hospitality costs
-
INCLEMENT WEATHER: All players must be ready to play regardless of the weather. See ‘Cancellations’ below.
-
CANCELLATIONS: The Convener, Games Leader, or Director of Bowling (if present) has the authority to suspend, reschedule or cancel play if adverse weather conditions are an issue.  In the event of cancellation before the game has started, entry fees will be refunded. SPLBC reserve the right to deduct club expenses in the event of cancellation. If only one game has been completed before the cancellation, entry fee money will be donated to a local charity, after club expenses have been deducted. If two or more games have been played before cancellation, prize money will be distributed based on the results of the played games.
