Club Championships

The Golden Partnership Open-Gender Senior Pairs Championship is restricted to club members only.

August 10 2026. First Game starts 10:00am  

Recommended time to arrive is 9:15am

Entry fee is $10 per person, or $20 per team, or $6 per spare

Please bring your own lunch. Coffee/Tea will be provided.  Prize money will be presented at Awards Day at the end of the season.  

 

THREE BOWL PAIRS: Each team will play three 10-end games of 3 bowl pairs. Time limit is 60 minutes per game.

DRESS CODE:  Team members should wear collared shirts of the same colour.

 

Schedule

Please arrive no later than 9:30am to register and randomly select the game cards.

Start times are:

Trial Ends 9:45

Game One 10:00

Game Two 11:15

Lunch break approx. 12:15

Game Three: 1:15

Presentations 2:30

Conditions of Play (SPLBC)  

  • TEAM COMPOSITION: Two players of any gender. Both must be at least 70 years of age on the date of the tournament.

  • FORMAT: 3-bowl pairs. Time limit is 60 minutes per game

  • TRIAL ENDS (first game only): Two-up, two-back trial ends at approximately 8:45 AM

  • BELL: A bell will start and end a game. No more jacks can be delivered after the final bell has sounded. Ends already underway can be completed. 


  • HEAD VISITS: Skips can visit the head just once before their last bowl. Leads may not visit the head.  


  • SHORTER JACK RULE: The forward edge of the mat must be at least 7 metres from the ditch. This will be marked with a chalk line. The jack must be rolled/delivered; it may not be placed.

  • JACK KNOCKED OUT OF BOUNDS: Re-spot the jack on the 2 metre ‘T’. 


  • SCORING: Teams will get 3 game points for a win, 1 game point for a tie and 0 game points for a loss.  Shot differentials are capped at +10 or -10 per game.  


  • SCORE CARDS: At the completion of each game, skips to sign both score cards and the winning skip will deliver both signed cards to the scorekeeper. 


  • LATE ARRIVAL: If one or both team members are more than 15 minutes late (after the starting bell) they will forfeit the game and the ‘Bye’ criteria (below) will be applied.

  • BYE. If a bye is unavoidable, the team receiving the bye will be awarded 3 points and a shot differential that is the average of all other winning teams in that same round.  

  • SPARES: Any spares must be pre-approved by the convener  â€¨

  • STANDINGS: The following criteria will determine the final standings after three games have been played: (a) game points won; (b) shot differential +/- record; (c) head-to-head results; (d) a one-end tie-break.

  • UMPIRE: No umpire will be available.  An Umpire kit is available for all to use if needed. If undecided, asked someone in an adjacent rink to decide. His/her decision is final.


  • FOOTWEAR & DRESS CODE: Team members should wear collared shirts of the same colour (see page 16 of the V&D Handbook). 


  • CELL PHONES: As a courtesy please turn off cell phones or put on vibrate mode. Do not hold telephone conversations during the game.


  • PRIZES:  Will be paid at Awards Day in September. Approx 10% of entry fees will be retained to cover hospitality costs

  • INCLEMENT WEATHER: All players must be ready to play regardless of the weather. See ‘Cancellations’ below. 

  • CANCELLATIONS: The Convener, Games Leader (if present) or Director of Bowling (if present) has the authority to suspend, reschedule or cancel play if adverse weather conditions are an issue.  In the event of cancellation before the game has started, entry fees will be refunded. SPLBC reserves the right to deduct club expenses in the event of cancellation. If only one game has been completed before the cancellation, entry fee money will be donated to a local charity, after club expenses have been deducted. If two or more games have been played before cancellation, prize money will be distributed based on the results of the played games.
