Winter blahs? Fear not, we are bowling indoors!

The SPLBC has managed to obtain an indoor lawn bowling set, and has scheduled drop-in draws for Fridays and Saturdays. Please check the club’s calendar page for any scheduling updates/details.

Here’s a note from club president Keith Warriner on the big news:

Carpet bowling has come to SPLBC! The club has acquired a complete, two rink carpet bowling system so we are now able to offer a bowling activity during the off-season. For those not familiar with carpet bowling, it is more or less identical to regular lawn bowling, except taking place indoors on special 30 foot long carpets using smaller bowls (still with a bias) and jacks.

We will be setting up the equipment in order to hold regular afternoon draws on Fridays and Saturdays. The first draw is scheduled for this Friday (November 25th), so if you would like to find out what carpet bowling is all about, come out and give it a try! Tags on the table by 1:15. We will continue Friday and Saturday draws for the remainder of the off-season, so long as there is an interest.

Please be aware that based on the number of carpet bowls we currently own (24) the maximum number of participants playing at any one time is 12. But games are typically only 8 ends, so if more people come out hoping to bowl, it will probably only be a relatively short wait before everyone gets their turn. Whatever the turnout I am sure we will find ways for everyone to have a good time. The setup will be left in place over Fridays and Saturdays, so if members want to drop-in outside the regular draw times, they are welcome use the equipment.

See you on the carpet!
