HEAVY PULLING AND SHOVING TO MOVE IRON ONTO GREENS |
Notes: Normally done by the Greenskeeper. This is a high-skill task for a trained operator. A crew of at least 2 is required to safely move the iron onto the greens. Ironing, or rolling, should be done infrequently, typically before tournaments as it compacts the soil and may damage the grass if over-used. The purpose of ironing is to temporarily eliminate small bumps and increase the speed of greens. |
